This course enables accredited Mental Health First Aiders™ to revise their knowledge and skills, and to extend their accreditation for a further 3 years with Fleur Heazlewood, one of Australia’s most experienced workplace wellbeing, mental health, and resilience trainers.
This is a 4.5-hour MHFA Refresher course workshop, which upon completion enables you to sit a short MHFA certificate renewal test. You will also receive a new manual.
Refresher training is important for:
- Safety: ensuring people have up to date knowledge and skills is essential for the safety of participants, communities, and the people they support.
- Skill building: refresher content builds on existing knowledge base and skillset with revision and the opportunity to enhance understanding and hone skills.
- Application: boosting participant confidence to apply what they have learned in the real world.
In the refresher course participants will:
- Gain an updated understanding of the latest research in the mental health field.
- Review the 3 key actions for helping someone who is feeling suicidal.
- Work through complex mental health first aid scenarios.
- Practice their mental health first aid skills.
Eligibility and requirements:
Refresher courses need to be completed within 3 years of a person completing their MHFAider accreditation. After 3-years a MHFAider will need to complete the full certificate course again. It is more efficient (time and cost) and effective to enrol in and complete refresher training than letting accreditation lapse and starting again.
